     For UNCSA’s production of Sweeney Todd, my main focus was creating this cart from scratch with help from Renee Chasey. The proportions changed a lot out of necessity as I made working drafts but the basic design remained the same. The main challenge was building the “dresser” portion which included four functioning drawers along with shelves, dowels to display bottles, hooks to hang a chair, and a removable banner. Creating the wheel axle was no small task either. We started with basic plumbing pipes, caps, and flanges. I then learned to use a pipe threader and a tap-and-die set in order to make the necessary adjustments to each element. We ended up with a functioning wagon that had independently turning wheels allowing for easy maneuvering.
